SPOKANE WA —September 6, 2016—   Roam Rydes, a podcast featuring women with a passion for cycling and a story to tell, is launching several interviews in an ongoing series titled “Minority Report”. The series, which focuses on women of color who bike, is the first multi-episode endeavor for the popular women’s cycling podcast.

“We have literally visited hundreds of bike communities and couldn’t help but notice the lack of diversity in our sport across the country,” said podcast host Ash Bocast. “Sure, there are existing reports on minorities, but they mostly focus on urban commuter populations. We hope that by sharing these women’s powerful stories we can start a conversation about how to encourage and embrace and inspire people, from all walks of life, who don’t feel like they ‘fit in’, to take up cycling as a sport and get more involved in their cycling communities.”

The first episode in the series highlights a conversation with 19-year-old student, shredder, and outdoor enthusiast Brooklyn Bell. Bell, who lives Bellingham Washington, is one of the only black riders in the area and has had a very positive experience within her local bike and outdoor community.

“Minority Report Dos” features Columbian born mother of two Olga Lucia Herrera, who sheds light on some of the cultural complexities that often keep women from participating in the outdoors.

“If you left young and came as a Latina to the US and were not exposed, you get lost in transition. (If) you don’t see people that look like you doing what others do, you feel like you don’t belong.” – Olga Lucia Herrera, Minority Report Guest
